Bernice’s brow was pinched with tension and her eyes testified to her fatigue. She had come to the clothing bank in search of clothing that would fit the three grandchildren who had been brought to her door unexpectedly the week before. She had been scrambling ever since to adjust her life and her finances to accommodate their needs.
“All of their clothes are too small for them,” she said. “And I don’t know what we will do about school. Everything is so much more expensive than it used to be.”
An hour later, Bernice left the clothing bank looking like a different woman! She had found plenty of school-worthy clothes for her grandchildren and a volunteer had helped her carry to her car three backpacks filled with school supplies.
“I can’t wait to show the kids,” she exclaimed. “And I can’t believe how generous this community is. I can never thank you enough.”
