For nearly two years, Christina, Rick, and their two school-aged children found themselves homeless and living out of their minivan.
“You never think it could be you, then one day it is… and you find yourself looking in the rear view mirror at your family and feeling like such a failure, totally helpless, and all alone,” Rick sorrowfully said.
During this dark time, Christina and Rick worked very hard and saved as much as they could. They became regular guests at our evening meal program where they received at hot meal. We became very acquainted and charmed by Christina and Rick as they shopped in our clothing bank. They came for clean clothes, food, back to school supplies and even Christmas gifts.
This past September, they shared wonderful news with us. They finally saved enough money to be able to rent a house here in Puyallup. We were able to provide them with beds, dressers and housewares. In addition, St. Francis House selected them to be the recipient of a very large food donation when they moved into their new place.
“We are so thankful for all the people who helped us. I can’t imagine what we would have done without a place like this,” Christina gratefully expressed. Christina gave each staff and volunteer the greatest hug that day.
