Jaime had been an English student at St. Francis House for two years. He learned quickly and, because of his new language skills, was promoted from dishwasher to waiter at the restaurant where he worked. This was good for him because the better pay and the tips helped him support his growing family.
Not long ago, a representative from a local car dealership approached St. Francis House in search of a bi-lingual person with good people skills who could work for them. Jaime immediately came to mind. His English would be adequate; he was warm and sincere with people; his papers were in order; he was bright and quick to learn. An interview was set up and took place within the hour under the lovely catalpa tree at St. Francis House.
Recently, Jaime stopped by to say thank you for helping him find this great job. “I even have benefits,” he proudly announced. “But without the English that I learned at St. Francis House, I would never be able to do this job. Thank you for helping me to change my life!”
